OUTERSONICS

AN EVENING OF QUADRAPHONIC DRONE

OUTERSONICS, a night of quadrophonic drone, is a new audiovisual evening that explores the outer reaches of sonic realms in an intimate, sacred spatialized listening space at the Stone Circle Theater at Ridgewood Presbyterian Church. Outersonics features three delicately curated quadrophonic sets by formidable electronic artists.

Sync Sapro

Sync Sapro is an NYC based experimental sound & video artist obsessed with expansive, heavy, textural drone, the outer fringes of the sonic frequency range, and the psycho-physiological effects of aural phenomenon. With a penchant for the elemental, mutated, and surreal, they are perpetually refining their ritualistic relationship to sound as a vehicle for accessing catharsis and transcendence. Their live sets utilize hardware and software synthesis techniques, heavily processed field recordings, auditory illusions & and spatial exploration to immerse and transform.

Alene Marie + Glyn Maier

Alene Marie has been a stalwart of the United States underground music community for over a decade, humbly developing a spectrum of synthesizer-based recordings and performances utilizing analog and digital synthesizers, often built herself. Under various aliases, Marie’s work has been highlighted internationally by labels PL, Jacktone, Mélodies Souterraines, Hot Releases, Schmerf, and more.

Octonomy

Octonomy is the moniker of Heidi Lorenz, a Brooklyn based sound and multimedia artist. Octonomy operates outside of genre signifiers but is underpinned by her inclination towards the drone. As a producer and live performer, she has a propensity towards hardware synthesizers, found sounds, field recordings, reverb-soaked voice, power tools, and noise; these elements are expressed in pulsing soundscapes and distorted, mournful ballads. Her work has also taken form in a number of commissioned long form ambient compositions for experiential spaces, performances and immersive installations and new media works. Thematically, she will always be concerned with motifs of loss, repressed desires, the uncanny valley, the void, sonic occultism & psychedelic, utopian leftism, regardless of what medium she's working in

Glyn Maier is a sound artist and field recordist living in Pisgah Forest, North Carolina. With a formal education in physics and music composition, Maier’s preoccupations with natural objects, landscapes, and their social histories guide his recordings. Maier’s abstract synthesis work is deeply informed by sound design and modern composition techniques, but his larger focus is on the agency of environment and associated socio-political reciprocities. Maier also helms the imprint enmossed, which he founded in 2017. Dedicated to contemporary sound, all profits are donated to positive causes of the artist’s choice, and all packaging materials for cassettes and records are made from recycled materials. Its catalogue is distributed internationally by independent shops such as Industrial Coast (UK), Tobira Records (JP), and Rope Editions (KR).
